I have been working on my husband's Teeple family off and on for a few years. He is a descendant from Peter Teeple through his son Stephen Henry. 2/6/1822 Stephen received his grant of land as the son of a United Empire Loyalists. 11/29/1823 the first Methodist group to own land in Canada was in West Oxford when the Trustees of the Episcopal Methodist Church of America, purchased 1 acre of lot 15 con 1 west Oxford, deed was attested by Comfort Sage and Stephen Teeple. 2/19/1824 There was a transfer by Stephen H Teeple and Comfort Sage. 5/27/1825 Stephen H took W 1/2 100 acres lot 1 con 6, Nissouri and E 1/2 100 acres lot 1 con 7 as a crown land patent. (West acres would be in Middlesex County and East acres would lay in Oxford County). 1828 At Oxford County, Stephen is age 30 in Capt John Stephens Co., 1st Reg Oxford Militia. The first Temperance Society ever formed in Nissouri and Canada. Stephen Teeple was one of the first member. Abt 1840 The defeat of the Whiskey Men: About this time there was a great strife among the whiskey men to keep up the old custom of having whiskey at bees and raisings. One of our staunch temperance men, Stephen H Teeple, residing on Governor's Rd., was determined to raise his barn without it and invited his neighbors with that understanding. They turned out well, but had secretly determined to have whiskey there. When the foundation was laid and the bents all ready to raise, they placed themselves in readiness to receive the first bent and then pretended it could not be raised unless he sent for whiskey. They offered to purchase it themselves and send a man for it, but he stoutly refused and finally the men left the barn unraised. Next day Teeple went to all the Temperance friends through Nissouri and Oxford, and they turned out and raised the barn without any difficulty to the great chagrin of the whiskey men and the joy of the temperance party, and a good many of whom determined not to go where it was and not to have it at any of their raisings. 1851 as of 1/11/1852 Census - West Nissouri Twp, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada Stephen Teeple, age 53, farmer, born Canada, Methodist, Con 7 Lot 1 Rachel, age 45 Peter, age 25, laborer F Phidella, age 22 Ann, age 20 Morris, age 17, laborer William, age 14 Samuel, age 12 Stephen Henry Teeple and family resided in a stone house. 1861 Census Nissouri West Twp, Middlesex, Ont, CN Stephen H Teeple, age 61 CN, Rel: E. Jared's granddaughter (Charlotte Teeple Ijames) said that her grandfather's 1st wife and her grandmother was Elizabeth Goodhand. ___________________________________________ Jared Teeple (son of Peter C) and his siblings mother was Almira Scott. She died before 1871. Peter remarried. __________________________________________________ Jared's first wife was Eliabeth Goodhand who married a Abraham C Teeple born abt 1860 from North Dorchester 1882. Abraham probably died before 1891 she then married Jared Teeple. I believe but have not proven that Abraham C was Jared's brother Christopher. Elizabeth probably died after their son Milton John was born 1895 because Jared married 2nd Hannah Burton. If you would like my family genealogy report, send me an email and I will attach more info.

Hello Jerry, My name is Drew Rice and Im from Harrisville, Mi. A google search of "McNeil Farm Haynes Michigan" directed me to your site. I've recently began a little dabbling in finding my ancestry but quite honestly I dont really know where to begin. My best resource so far has been my Grandmother, Shirley Janet Rice (Kell). I do have family ties to the McNeil farm on McGregor Rd. in Haynes, Mi. To my knowledge it at one time belonged to my paternal grandfathers parents. My Grandfather's Mothers maiden name would be a Mcneil: Blanche (forgive my spelling). It looks to me like you have a pretty extensive family tree built so far. I would love the opportunity to take a look at the McNeil branch sometime. And any advice on using the site would be great. Hope to speak with you soon! Drew Rice

Hello Jerry, First, what an amazing genealogical history you have compiled! I am new to this (only been at it for about 3 years) and I'm using you as a role model. I have found your information to be so reliable and I'm holding myself to the highest level of accuracy I can. I have gone down wrong turns and made a few mistakes, but was surprised to find I was happy I found the errors -- this really does matter to me to get it right. I finally feel like I have a small piece of my family puzzle figured out and wanted to share with you. Second, the information that I have for you I will email...I also have more data on Archibald McNeil(l) & Mary Graham, father& mother of Donald McNeil (b. 1818). I do have sources that I'll include. I am also beginning to scan some of the documents I received from my mother (Betty Teeple Freer) over the summer. I will happy to include those as well. Please look for this to come over the next few weeks as I only have a small amount of time free to work on it. Would love to meet you the next time I'm in Harrisville and thank you again for all of your work on this. It's absolutely amazing. Best, Jennifer

Hi, Jerry Milo Johnson. I've been searching for William Jack and his wife Euphemia on-line, for the last few day. I came across quite a bit of information that I did not have before and was trying to find their death dates in the Esplin cemetary where they are buried when I chanced upon your web-site. WOW!!! On some trees George H married Dorothea Deweese but had no children. Other have him married who D. Davis, but no history for her and no chldren listed. Perhaps George is not Geroge H son of Andreas Volck. Any thoughts or idea. Thanks Glen

I am descendant from Patrick McPeek (abt.1710-abt. 1800) Patrick's son Ezekiel (Abt.1730-1808) married a Masters whose first name is not known. Ezekiel's son Richard married a Phoebe Masters, his son John married an Eleanor Masters and daughter Hannah married Benjamin Masters. The family originated in Sussex County, NJ. I assume that Benjamin, Phoebe and Eleanor were siblings but can't find anything to prove or disprove. I have been trying to sort out the Masters-McPeek connections for about 20 years now. I believe that Benjamin also had a brother William and that they were related to Richard Masters who died in Sussex County, NJ in 1761. I believe that Richard was their grandfather and another William their father. Most of the above folks left NJ early 1800s and went to Ohio. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated. There was much intermarriage between Masters and McPeeks both here in NJ and in Ohio. Thanks much in advance.

I have a cottage/small house in Harrisville and an Abstract of Title for it that lists some of what might be what you're looking for as it concerns the LaChapelle/Chapelle relationship. I had seen your posted question at the Alcona Genealogical website. There is an entry by George W. La Chapelle in an affidavit dated August 27, 1910 and recorded August 29, 1910 in liber 28 page 592 that reads as follows: "Francis LaChapelle was my father, and died Nov. 27, 1870 at age of 57 years, Margaret LaChapelle my mother died Oct 15, 1874 at age of 59 years, Neither Margaret LaChapelle or Francis LaChapelle made a will and their estate was not probated. Five sons surviving Francis LaChapelle and Margaret LaChapelle, viz. Edward LaChapelle or Chapelle, Francis LaChapelle, Alfred LaChapelle, George LaChapele and Peter LaChapelle, who were the only heirs. Edward LaChapelle, my brother, had his name changed to Edward Chapelle and signed deeds to father and mothers estate as heir of Francis and Margaret LaChapelle. I George W. La Cahpelle was a single man up to October 30, 1869 which date I was married". I am looking for any historical photos or other documents that might date or otherwise document the construction of my cottage which is in Harrisville, Michigan. I wonder if you might, in turn, be able to help me? Incidentally, there are several Yuills also listed in my abstract- you had a question about that family as well. Kathy kathybuck@wowway.com

Jerry, I think there are errors on the Van Alstyne Family Tree section. Compare my family tree to yours: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=donevanell&id=I65087 http://www.voiceinverse.com/family/genealogy/getperson.php?personID=I74&tree=mytree I think the death reports of William Henry Van Alstyne and Martha A Johnson may be incorrect. The Wm Van Alstine in the newspaper article from alcona.org could be referring to another William, perhaps born in 1833, who lived near Detroit also. What source docs do you have for Martha's death during the childbirth of Earl? Thanks, -Mark Van Alstyne

Herman Hull (born 1853 in Ohio) is my great grandfather. I believe I have a photo of Cornelius in his Civil War uniform - but I have to check with my mom. I'm puzzled by the family information you have for Herman. You don't have Estella Griffin listed as a wife for him, with children of Myra and Edgar. I suppose that's not in your direct line of descendancy! However, does the inclusion of Cornelius in your tree mean we are related?

Hello Jerry, I have been researching my childrens father's side of the family. His name is Gary Lee Zemke who is the son of Grace Van Alstine her father was William H.(Henry) Van Alstine and her mother was Clara Lucht. William and Clara are buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Marathon County,Wausau, WI. William his father was born in Michigan according to a death certificate of his first born son William Henry Van Alstine Jr. Born 13/Oct/1925. He later died at St. Mary's Hospital, cause of death was premature birth complications, on 20/Oct/1925 at 4:00 A.M. This information was found in the death index 1925 Death Cert. Vol. 35 page 460. Before Grace had passed away she started to tell me who her father's brother and sisters were. She only had names and very little information on them but, what she did tell me seems to fit with some of the information you have on the Van Alstine family you have researched. The names that Grace offered me were as follows: Dave Van Alstine was a fire chief in some town near Winnepeg, Canada Minnie Van Alstine last name married Laughlin,or Loughlin she wasn't sure of the correct spelling. Earl Van Alstine who married a woman called Tillie and they were living somewhere in Chicago, ILL. She said they had 2 daughters named Phyllis and Audrey. Margaret Van Alstine living in Souix St. Marie, Michigan. She did tell me that there might have been more but, those were the only ones she knew of. The William H. Van Alstine Jr. in your search I noticed you had no death date or marriage date. If this is the one and the same person I would be interested in exchanging more information or perhaps proving this line of ancestry. Please email me at the above address and I would love to hear if you think this is a possibility. Sincerely, Marci Zemke

If you are a descendant of Rev.Jones there is info on him on the New England Ancestors (Winter 2007 issue ),you should look at? The info is on a story about Rev.Jones leaving Concord,Ma in 1644 and a photo of his memorial stone in the Old Fairfield Burial grounds and a photo of Rev.Jones`s dau Sarah`s father-in-law Rev.Peter Bulkeley of Concord. My brother Cal alerted me to your site. Nice. He will have told you about our grandmother, Margaret Theresa (Maggie) LaChapelle who became a MacIver and passed away in Lucknow, Ontario, Canada. When I was young, other boys used to tease me about my name, Francis. My mother, Sarah Wood MacIver, told me that there was always a Francis in her mother's family and I should be proud to carry the name. Thanks to your site, I can indeed see that to be fact and follow the name all the way back to the original French, Francois. Thanks very much. By the way, my son's name is Colin Francis Townson, the name continues. Cheers and thanks again. Frank Townson

I "Googled" to seek my maternal grandmother's parents and family. She was Margaret Theresa La Chapelle of Harrisville, Michigan before marrying my grandfather, Lauchlan Mac Iver of Lucknow, Ontario. A page from your site had her and her siblings and more. You site has been very informative. Congratulations on your productive efforts.

Hi Jerry: My grandmother was Irma Bolan Johnson and my Mom is Beverley Clark Johnson, daughter of Estella and Victor Clark. My Dad, Melvin H. Johnson, died on October 17, 2006 and I was searching for Mt. Joy Cemetery to determine exactly where his ashes will be buried in the Spring. The lot is 73A, Section 2. I came across your website and think it's wonderful. I met Milo along time ago and knew he had been tracking the family tree. Would love to have a user name and password to navigate the website. I assume you are the son of Milo and have continued on with the family tree. I've been in Milo's house on the lake. Harrisville is home to alot of us. It will always be for me. Take Care and keep up the wonderful geneology. Susan

I've been doing a family search since 2003 and have never found a web site with anyone related to me before! WhooHoo! If you have any questions please contact me and I'll try to help if I can. I don't have a site up currently. I had one in 2003, but took it down to remodel it. When I get it up again I'll send the web url. Thanks for sharing this site! :)

Hello! I am Grace and Joe Holstein's daughter (Lenora McNeil Reling's grandaughter). My mom just passed on the information about your site - I am looking forward to investigating it. I am very big on 'memory keeping'. I am a consultant for Creative Memories and have been making albums documenting my daughter Angelina's life since she was born 4 years ago. I can't wait to do a family history scrapbook album and hope to use some info from your site!

Jerry, I went through the entire outline, however with all the repeats, I did not attempt to print it out. If I could have, could help you with some of the info. You have only a handful of Somers however, so don't know how much you want there. Could help with a couple Teeple's (my neice is married to one of Harriet Teeple's sons (Glen).... Leslie Milligan was married to Fern Flynn....she just died within the last 2 yrs, I believe. There are others, but not being able to print it out....(repeats).... Joyce Miller O'Mell is deceased and so are her brothers within the last 2 or three years. Was interested in some of the other names and relationships....would loved to have printed for my husband to reminisce.... Apparently you are not using Family Tree Maker program....or when making corrections, you are just running them again. It may appear to the program that they are new additional people in your family tree. Would appreaciate your reply accordingly. No matter how it is done, IT IS A LOT OF WORK! Peg
